Business plan for an online English training for Myanmar helpers in Singapore

Communication challenges between employers and Myanmar domestic helpers in Singapore remain common despite helpers having basic English knowledge. These challenges often arise from limited practical language use, low communicationconfidence, and differences in communication expectations within households.This Independent Study examines these challenges and explores how practical, context-based English training can improve employer–helper communication. The study focuses on SkillPro Hub, an online English training service designed for Myanmar helpers in Singapore that emphasizes real-life household communication and bilingual instruction.Using a qualitative research approach, data were collected from employers and Myanmar helpers with household communication experience. The findings show that employers prioritize practical communication over formal grammar, while helpers prefer flexible and personalized learning. The study provides recommendations to support SkillPro Hub’s training design and customer acquisition strategy.
