Phytoplankton functional group dataset from shallow riparian wetlands (Bulgaria)

This dataset includes phytoplankton taxa lists and functional group (FG) composition data from two shallow macrophyte-dominated riparian wetlands in Bulgaria (Popovitsa RW and Dragoman RW), sampled during the 2020 growing season.The dataset comprises:(i) a complete taxa list of phototrophic microorganisms with assignment to Reynolds functional groups, and(ii) relative contribution (%) of phytoplankton functional groups and identification of dominant groups.The dataset supports the manuscript:“Functional Group V in shallow macrophyte-dominated wetlands: evidence beyond stratified systems”.
