Background The National Youth Tobacco Survey (NYTS) was developed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and is used to measure progress towards the Healthy People 2010 goal of reducing tobacco use among youth in the United States. The survey looks at the following: access to tobacco, second hand smoke, tobacco-related beliefs, attitudes and behaviors, and exposures to pro and anti-tobacco influences. User Functionality Users can download static reports, tables and figures. Additionally, users can download the entire data set, code book and questionnaire. Data NotesThe survey uses a nationally representative sample of middle school and high school students. The most recent data set to download is from 2004, and the most recent figures, reports and tables are from 2006. The surveys were administered in 1999, 2000, 2002, 2004, 2006, and 2009. The site does not specify when it is updated with new data.
