This is existing vegetation map data compiled to capture and document the current state of nationwide vegetation, as part of the Basic Survey for Natural Environment Conservation conducted by the Biodiversity Center of the Ministry of the Environment, Japan. Vegetation maps that depict plant community units on topographic maps based on phytosociology are recognized as critical foundational information for environmental assessment and the development of natural environment conservation policies.
