资源简介:
The following reports deal with the results of archeological surveys of three small reservoir areas in the Red River of the North Drainage Basin, in northeastern North Dakota: the Homme Reservoir, on the South Branch of the Park River, Walsh county; the Pembina River Reservoir, Cavalier county; and the Tongue River Reservoir, Pembina county. The reservoirs are projects of the Corps of Engineers; the archeological surveys were made by the River Basin Surveys, Smithsonian Institution,, The field investigations were made in September and October 1948. The District Engineer’s office, Corps of Engineers, at St. Paul, provided maps
to facilitate the field work. The purpose of these surveys was to discover
the extent of archeological remains in the areas to be flooded by the dams and to determine whether there are sites of major Importance in these areas which should be excavated prior to the filling of the reservoirs. In each locality, some time was spent in consultation with local residents and in the examination of local collections.
