Dichotomomyces cejpii is a deep-sea fungus that showed close identity with Aspergillus fumigatus. Gliotoxin is an epipolythiodioxopi-perazine (ETP) containing a disulfide bridge. And gliotoxin also showed the potential of the treatment of liver fibrosis, which is premonition for liver cirrhosis. 15 kinds of gliotoxins with strong cytotoxicity towards liver cancer cells were isolated from the fermentation liquid of D. cejpii. However, the biosynthetic mechanism for gliotoxins in D. cejpii remains unclear.
