Calculation based on the economically feasible hydropower potential reported in the 2021 Hydropower & Dams World Atlas and the most recent values of hydropower generation or installed hydropower capacity, also reported by the 2021 Hydropower & Dams World Atlas. Where the economically feasible capability was not reported, other references were consulted including publications from the World Energy Council (https://www.worldenergy.org). Economically feasible capability is the amount of the gross theoretical capability that can be exploited within the limits of current technology under present and expected local economic conditions. The figures may or may not exclude economic potential that would be unacceptable for social or environmental reasons.
