Aspergillus parasiticus, isolated from mealworm (Tenebrio molitor) intestines was selected due to its growth on agar plates with a mixture of long-chain alkanes as sole carbon sources. Long-chain alkanes are used for screening and inducing putative polyethylene degraders. To further investigate its biodegradation potential, whole genome sequencing was conducted to identify enzymes associated with this ability.
