These Registers of applications for auctioneers’, hawkers’, coach, and other licenses dealt with by the Bench of Magistrates record such information as: the number of the application, the date of hearing, the name of applicant, the country they are native to, the nature of the licence applied for, the result of the application, and the signature of the Magistrate.The volume dating from 1949 to 1977 gives this title to each page: Record of applications for auctioneers, stock and station and real estate agents licenses, hawkers, pawnbrokers, second-hand dealers, collectors, Sunday trading and other licenses dealt with by the Bench of Magistrates or the Clerk of Petty Sessions.This volume also holds, within the front cover, lists of local Justices of the Peace. These lists date from 1949 to 1970 and provide each J.P.’s name and address.These registers form part of volumes also containing memorandums of cases committed for trial, records of cases dealt with under the “First Offenders'” provisions of the Crimes Act, lists of furniture in the court house, and lists of the law books at the court house.
