The macrophage mannose receptor (MMR) is a C-type lectin receptor expressed on immune cells, and endothelial cells. This 159 kDa glycoprotein is involved in carbohydrate recognition of pathogens, thanks to two different types of domains. MMR is an endocytic receptor and its activity and conformation are regulated by the pH, but this mechanism is still not well understood. Obtaining its structure at different pH is essential to better understand how it works and to put the basis of the development of therapies or vaccination strategies involving MMR.
