Asian crested Ibis (Nipponia Nippon) is one of the bird species which is endangered. The last wild Asian crested ibis died in 2003, and the remaining wild population had been found only in China. Currently, the species has been recovered in Korea and Japan. There are more than 360 Asian crested ibises recovered in the restoration center in Changnyeong, Korea. However, the birds have been recovered from a limited number of parents. Thus, they probably have low biological diversity, indicating that the genomic diversity of the recovered population should be measured accurately. Also, the accurately measured genomic diversity of the population can provide critical hints to establish further recovery and restoration of this species in Korea and worldwide.
