These are data from a survey in 2019 of bison dietary quality and composition from a survey of 45 herds across the conterminous United States. Bison fecal material was collected monthly from April to September in 2019. Fecal material was analyzed for dietary quality using near infrared spectroscopy and dietary composition with DNA metabarcoding.
Methods
Data were collected by local managers and sent for analysis. Samples were analyzed by near infrared spectroscopy for dietary quality and metabarcoding for dietary composition. Data were analyzed in R.
