Transcriptomic analysis of different rice genotypes (DV85, HCS, NDCMP49) in response to bacterial leaf streak infection

We compared the transcriptomes of NDCMP49, BLS resistant variety but lacking xa5-based resistance with DV85, a rice variety with xa5-based resistance, and HCS, a BLS susceptible variety at 0- and 9-hours post-inoculation with Xoc. Analysis of differentially expressed genes (DEGs) revealed a less transcriptional response in the two resistant varieties than in the susceptible variety. During the first nine hours of infection, all varieties showed differential expression of defense-related genes including receptor-like kinases, NB-LRR proteins, WRKY and NAC transcription factors, heat shock proteins, and chitinases, indicating the involvement of pathogen recognition-triggered immunity (PTI) and effector-triggered immunity (ETI) pathways.
