The protein sugars will eventually be exported transporters (SWEETs) of plants play important roles in host-pathogen interaction. How SWEET affects plant virus infection remains largely unknown. Potato is one of the most economically important crops for addressing global food security. Potato virus Y (PVY) is the most widespread and harmful virus that occurs in potato production. Whether StSWEET functions during PVY infection needs to be studied. Here, we performed transcriptome analysis of the wild-type and StSWEET1g over-expression transgenic Nicotiana benthamiana plants at two days post PVY infection, which increases our knowledge about the function of the SWEET family in plant-pathogen interaction.
