Insect Behaviour in response to weather conditions and treatments Dataset

A dataset of insect behavior in response to various treatments in their habitats was complied on Wednesday, October 15th & 22nd, 2014 at the Keele campus of York University. Two factors were investigated to observe insect behavior, which were the type of feed insects are attracted to and the varying weather conditions (or day) during which the course of the experiment took place. Group members prepared solutions of salt, sugar (at 60% concentration), water and perfume. These treatments were coated onto handfuls of grass and placed on sheets of paper pseudo randomly at a grassland on the campus. The experiment was conducted over two days with varying weather conditions on each day; one day was warm and sunny, the other was cold and rainy. Three replicates were used to observe insect behavior over 20- minute time intervals during a 120 minute experiment each day for two days and the observed data was recorded.
