genome sequence of Nardonella Rfe. endosymbiont of Rhynchophorus ferrugineus

Members of the genus Nardonella are endosymbiotic symbionts of weevils. Here we determined the complete genome sequence of the Nardonella symbiont observed in the red palm weevil Rhynchopholus ferrugineus. We also sequenced the complete genome sequence of three Narodonella symbionts in other weevils, and conducted comparative genomics among the four genomes. The results indicated that the Nardonella symbionts may supply their insect host with amino acids.
