Customer deposits at banking institutions in Hong Kong 2016-2023

In 2022, the bank deposits at authorized institutions in Hong Kong amounted to 7.62 trillion Hong Kong dollars in domestic currency and 8.6 trillion Hong Kong dollars in foreign currency. The large share of foreign currency deposits is due to the proximity to mainland China which attracts deposits in yuan and Hong Kong's position as an international financial center.
