Cyanobacteria phylum reference databases for BLAST and MMseqs2 homology search, derived from two complementary sources (NCBI RefSeq and GTDB r220) for comprehensive coverage of cultured species and uncultured environmental diversity.
Build parameters: BLAST 2.16.0+, MMseqs2 18.8cc5c, snapshot 2026-05-30.
Source 1 — NCBI RefSeq representative genomes (taxid 1117 + descendants, refseq_category in {representative, reference}, snapshot 2026-05-30):
- 257 species representatives
- 1,311,882 NCBI-annotated proteins
- 30,327 nucleotide sequences (chromosomes + plasmids)
Source 2 — GTDB r220 species representatives (gtdb_representative=t, phylum p__Cyanobacteriota):
- 2,220 species representatives (includes MAGs/SAGs for environmental diversity)
- 7,599,839 Prodigal-predicted proteins (GTDB re-annotation)
- 341,792 nucleotide sequences

Each tarball is flat (no parent directory) and contains the DB files (basename `db`), a `.petri-meta.json` source/build manifest, and an `assembly_list.tsv` reproducibility record (accession list with taxonomy / FTP path).
FASTA headers in all DBs are prefixed with the source assembly accession (e.g., >RS_GCF_*|... or >GB_GCA_*|...) for traceability back to the source genome.
Intended for use with Petri (lab-internal RNA-seq / homology search desktop app).
