Healthy Creek and Reef/ Babinda Creek Stager Road/ Revegetation - Phase 2

The overall proposal of which this project is a part is to revegetate approximately 11,000 trees over 4.3 hectares on the banks of Babinda Creek at visible locations to enrich and extend remnant vegetation to increase community awareness of the need and practical methods of riverine restoration necessary to protect creeks and the reef. Ultimately the project will contribute to resilience to local climate change, to restoration of Indigenous cultural values and to restoration of terrestrial and aquatic corridors for threatened and endangered species including the Cassowary. It will also reduce impacts on downstream estuarine conservation zones and the Great Barrier Reef all identified as important objectives of the Draft Babinda Creek Management Plan.
