new wx allele that has large deletion on wx locus in rice

Wx gene encodes GBSSI, which catalyses both amylose and amylopectin synthesis in rice endosperm. A rice wx mutant 75KURwx4N1 line, was obtained by irradiation thermal neutron to non-waxy cultivar Norin-8, and the 75KURwx4N1 has an entire deletion of Wx coding region. To identify the genomic structure of the deletion mutation, we sequenced the whole genomes of the line 75KURwx4N1, mapped the reads to Nipponbare reference genome and compare with Norin-8 genome. The results indicated that the deletion size was about 40 kbps.
