Frozen Ground Temperature Variations, East Andean Range, 1995-2005, Version 1

This data set includes air and soil temperatures from the East Andean Range. The goals of the project were 1) to understand air and ground temperature variations as a function of elevation in seasonally frozen ground (below 3000 m) and in permafrost (above 3000 m) and to determine the cause of such variations, 2) to monitor gelifluction and rock glaciers, 3) to measure retreat of snow patches and mountain lakes, and 4) to compare the observed variations with those in other permafrost mountain regions. Air temperature and ground temperature (down to 5 m) were recorded continuously beginning in 1995.
