The National Network (NN) supports interstate commerce by regulating the size of trucks. The National Network is the composite of the individual network of highways from each State on which vehicles authorized by the provisions of the Surface Transportation Assistance Act (STAA) of 1982 are allowed to operate. The federally-designated routes on the National Network consist of the Interstate System and additional highways identified under appendix a to part 658 of 23 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR): https://www.law.cornell.edu/cfr/text/23/appendix-A_to_part_658. Additions and Deletions to the National Network may require a Federal Register, Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM). This dataset is maintained by the Transportation Data & Analytics (TDA) office.
