This dataset contains anonymized responses from a questionnaire designed to explore the relationship between the use and perception of generative artificial intelligence (AI) and professional self-efficacy among university students in Mexico. Data were collected in February 2025 from students enrolled in diverse academic areas, including Business, Education and Humanities, and Health Sciences. The survey includes demographic variables (semester, field of study, gender, age), frequency and purposes of AI use, perceptions regarding AI tools, and a validated professional self-efficacy scale. Responses were gathered through a structured online form, ensuring informed consent and voluntary participation. This dataset supports the research article "Influence of Generative Artificial Intelligence Use and Perception on Professional Self-Efficacy in University Students" and can be used for secondary analyses on AI adoption in higher education, technology acceptance, and self-efficacy assessment.
