Horse gut bacteriome and anaerobic mycobiome are influenced by seasonal forages and small intestinal starch digestibility

This study utilised long-read amplicon sequencing to characterise the equine gut microbiome, revealing how seasonal forages and starch digestibility drive significant shifts in bacterial diversity and composition. In contrast, anaerobic fungal communities remained relatively resilient to dietary shifts. These insights advance our understanding of gut ecology and inform dietary management for equine health.
