资源简介:
Recent research has failed to find evidence for “subliminal” evaluative conditioning (EC) in “intentional” learning conditions (Stahl & Bading, 2020; Stahl, Haaf, & Corneille, 2016). In the present research, we tested whether “subliminal” EC can emerge in “incidental” learning conditions. In three experiments, we combined Olson and Fazio’s (2001) surveillance paradigm with an experimental manipulation of CS visibility. CS visibility was measured via perceptual awareness ratings and CS identification performance in a subset of participants and learning trials. Across studies, we failed to find evidence for EC among briefly presented and visually masked CSs (regardless of whether or not these CSs were consciously perceived). Limitations of the present studies and avenues for future research are discussed. notReviewed other
