Scroll tothe bottom of this page to download pdf's of the agenda you wish to review. The Jersey City Historic PreservationCommission meets typically either the second or third Monday of each month,except for April and October when they meet the 1st and 4thMonday. The HistoricPreservation Commission, as established by the 2001 Land DevelopmentOrdinance, works to identify, record and protect buildings, sites, places,structures, objects or landscape features of significant historical,architectural, social and archeological value. The identification of historicresources for municipal landmarking is based on the National RegisterCriteria for Evaluation established by the United StatesDepartment of the Interior. The eleven-member commission strives to help thepublic in understanding the importance of these historic resources, bothindividually and in the context of the surrounding districts and neighborhoodsby encouraging appropriate development and rehabilitation in accordance withthe Jersey City LandDevelopment Ordinance Chapter 345.71 : Historic Preservation Standards andthe Secretary of the Interior’s Standards andGuidelines for the Treatment of Historic Properties, especiallythe Standards forRehabilitation.
