COHESION AND COHERENCE IN ACADEMIC WRITING OF EFL STUDENTS

Abstract. Academic writing is one of the most important skills for students learning English as a Foreign Language (EFL). To produce effective academic texts, students need to understand and apply the principles of cohesion and coherence. Cohesion refers to the grammatical and lexical connections that link different parts of a text, while coherence refers to the logical organization and overall meaning of a written work. This article discusses the importance of cohesion and coherence in academic writing, common difficulties faced by EFL students, and strategies for improving these aspects of writing.
