This is the second coprostanol-producing bacterium to be whole-genome sequenced and deposited, and the first from the human gut. A novel genus in the Acutalibacteraceae, denoted, to date, as CAG-177 in GTDB. Isolated at Stephen Skolnick and Company, DBA Constellation Bio, as part of an effort to develop human gut anaerobes as novel probiotics.
