Microbiome analysis of Paramecium bursaria strains cultured in different media

Although lettuce medium is commonly used for culturing Paramecium bursaria, the composition of lettuce can vary depending on the region and season, potentially affecting experimental reproducibility. In this study, we examined effects of a synthetic medium with a defined and stable composition as an alternative to the lettuce medium on the symbiotic algae and bacteria.
