Genome sequence of Pedobacter sp. strain IW39. Isolated from ice wedge permafrost affected soils located at Axel Heiberg Island in the Canadian High Arctic (79º26'N, 90º46'W). This strain was sequenced using the Oxford Nanopore MinION sequencer. The goal of the study was to test a field portable DNA sequencer, with application for microbial ecology, as well as in the context of testing a portable life detection instrumentation ( detecting nucleic acids in situ as a biomarker).
