Seasonal abundance and diversity monitoring of arthropods on Bylot Island, Nunavut

This project is part of the ecological monitoring on Bylot Island and focuses on the seasonal variations in arthropod abundance and diversity. We provide baseline information to evaluate current and future population trends for insects and spiders, the major food resource for insectivorous birds nesting on the Island. As climate change may alter the phenological synchrony between trophic levels, long-term monitoring of arthropods becomes a key element to assess the possible impacts on bird populations.
