Replication Data for: artwork provenances NEPIP

This dataset contains 21,000 artworks listed on the Nazi Era Provenance Internet Portal or related to Nazi era provenance research projects. The unified dataset brings together for analysis provenance texts from several different American museums (Detroit Institute of Arts, Yale University Art Gallery, Kimball Art Museum, Toledo Museum of Art, Norton Simon Museum, Museum of Modern Art, Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, Art Institute of Chicago, Harvard University Art Museums, Museum of Fine Arts Boston, J. Paul Getty Museum, National Gallery of Art, Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh, Cleveland Museum of Art, Metropolitan Museum of Art, Philadelphia Museum of Art, Indiana University Art Museum). The texts were analyzed for the frequency with which art dealers names appear in the provenance texts.
