VPRS 16913 Teaching Album - Head of Department, Reginald Webster

This series consists of a photograph album containing micro-photographs of pathology specimens. For each photograph there is a typed description, which also includes the patients name and sometimes a brief medical history. There are a couple of specimens that don't have the patient details or medical history. The photographs appear to have been gathered from a number of different sources including museum specimens and were used as a teaching aid.The album was maintained by Dr Reginald Webster who was a pathologist at the Royal Children's Hospital (RCH)/ According to the official history of the RCH, 'The Royal Children's Hospital; A History of Faith, Science and Love', Dr. Webster was the first full-time pathologist at any Melbourne Hospital and the laboratory was regarded as the best in the state' (p126).Prior to transfer to Public Record Office Victoria, the records in this series were maintained as part of the Royal Children's Hospital (RCH) Archives. They were part of RCH accession number 2002/003.
