African wetland spatial distribution datasets: African inland wetland area on the rise during the 21st century

This dataset, supporting the manuscript “African inland wetland area on the rise during the 21st century”, contains a time-series of African wetland classification maps for ten historical periods (1984–2021). The time-series classifications were produced using time-series optical observations and topographic–hydrological features in Google Earth Engine, following the methods described in the associated manuscript. Each map provides nine wetland categories plus upland areas at 30 m resolution. All files are provided in GeoTIFF format with a consistent class schema. It includes simulation results for the year 2100 under four scenarios (SSP126, SSP245, SSP370, SSP585), with wetland area (unit: square kilometer) aggregated to a 0.2° latitude-longitude grid and stored as scenario-separated single-band GeoTIFF files. The matching African 0.2° grid vector file, README documentation, and Google Earth Engine (GEE) processing scripts are also provided.
