Interior forest

The forest proportion beyond a fixed edge width (100m) -Core Forest Proportion index- is used as a generic proxy for interior forest area and reported for the year 2006 per landscape units of 25 km by 25 km, per provinces (NUTS2/3) and per country (NUTS 0). The other index (interior forest and along natural lands) also refers to the interior part of forest patches but no edge width is applied when forest is along natural/semi-natural lands. A fixed edge width (100m) is applied only when forest is adjacent to anthropogenic (artificial and agricultural) habitats. Interior forest habitat likely suffers no or minor effects from anthropogenic land.
