Corynebacterium spp. with Acquired Daptomycin Resistance Due to PgsA gene mutation.

Corynebacterium striatum and Corynebacterium macclintockiae isolates obtained from clinical specimens developed resistance to daptomycin following daptomycin treatment. In this study, we investigated the mechanism underlying this resistance. Mutations in the pgsA gene were identified in the resistant strains after exposure to daptomycin. These findings suggest that the clinical use of daptomycin may contribute to the emergence of resistant strains.
