Perceptions of Generative AI in Universities: Cross-Country Survey Dataset

This dataset contains 637 anonymized survey responses on perceptions of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) in the university context. The survey collected respondents’ assessments of several key statements related to the future role of GenAI in higher education, including whether GenAI may replace university teachers, whether its implementation is expensive, whether its use requires significant technical knowledge, whether GenAI may contribute to violations of academic integrity, and whether GenAI always provides accurate information. The responses were recorded using a five-point Likert scale, where 1 indicates “strongly disagree” and 5 indicates “strongly agree”. The dataset also includes information on the country where the respondent’s organization is located and a binary variable indicating whether the respondent identifies as Ukrainian. The data can be used for comparative analysis of attitudes toward GenAI in higher education, assessment of perceived risks and barriers to GenAI implementation, and exploration of cross-country differences in academic perceptions of AI-related transformations. The dataset may be useful for researchers working in the fields of higher education, digital transformation, academic integrity, educational innovation, AI adoption, and university management. The dataset does not contain names, email addresses, or other direct personal identifiers. It is provided for research, educational, and analytical purposes, supporting open science and further empirical investigation of GenAI-related challenges and opportunities in universities.
