Ridership during Covid-19With the London Underground’s passenger traffic and revenue hit particularly hard by the lockdown imposed on the UK’s population in March 2020, emergency funding worth 1.6 billion GBP has been approved for Transport for London (TfL) to keep its services running. Ticket fares are set to increase in order to compensate for the signification drop in ridership volume over the months of March, April, and May 2020. During the lockdown, TfL’s bikes were more frequently used as an alternative – instead of the subway – to travel across London for leisure purposes to visit London’s green spaces, such as Hyde Park and South Bank.
