Localization and functional importance of a conserved zona pellucida 2 protein domain in the human and bovine ovary using monoclonal anti-ZP2 peptide antibodies.

The epitope-specific mAb affected bovine-sperm/zona pellucida binding. Treatment of test hemizonae with the epitope-spcific mAb resulted in an average of 58.6 spermatozoa bound to the outer surface measured by competitive hemizona assay compared to the control with 85 sperm bound.
