A multi-strain oral probiotic improves the balance of the vaginal microbiota in women with asymptomatic bacterial vaginosis

The aim of this project was to investigate, via metagenomic analysis of 16s rDNA extracted from vaginal swabs, the diversity and composition of vaginal microbiota in women with asymptomatic bacterial vaginosis, before and after the oral administration of a multi-strain probiotic formulation, in order to asses whether the oral route was able to influence the homeostasis of the female genital microbiota.
