Here we present the first high-throughput sequencing of bacterioplankton sheds light on bacterial and cyanobacterial diversity in high-altitude Lake Sevan, Armenia. DNA was amplified using primers 343F (CTCCTACGGRRSGCAG) and 806RB (GGACTACNVGGGTWTCTAAT) targeting the V3-V4 regions of the 16S rRNA gene. Paired-end sequencing with a read length of 250 bp was performed on the Illumina MiSeq platform.
