The Australian Cooperative Digitisation Project was a pilot digitisation project coordinated by the National Library of Australia. The project undertook the development of a digital library of Australian journals, newspapers and novels published in the period 1840-1845. The University of Sydney hosts the four novels included within The Australian Cooperative Digitisation Project. The University of Sydney Australian Cooperative Digitisation Project collection contains digitised, searchable versions of four colonial Australian novels:
Love Story /by a Bushman (1841), by William Harvey Christie (1808-1873);
Tales for the Bush (1845), by Mary Theresa Vidal (1815-1873);
Adventures of a Colonist (1845), by Thomas McCrombie (1819-1869); and
Tales of the Colonies (1843), by Charles Rowcroft (1798-1856).
The four novels were transcribed from the published texts, and encoded in TEI XML format. Facimilies of each page were captured in .GIF format. Digitised versions of the texts are presented in TEI, GIF and PDF format on the Australian Digital Collections website, which is hosted by the University of Sydney Library.
