PRAGMATIC FUNCTIONS OF TOURISM DISCOURSE IN ENGLISH: THE ROLE OF CULTURAL CONTEXT
收藏资源简介:
This study explores the pragmatic functions of tourism discourse in English with a particular focus on the role of cultural context in meaning construction. Tourism discourse is not only informative but also persuasive, aiming to influence the attitudes and decisions of potential tourists. The research applies a qualitative approach based on discourse analysis and intercultural pragmatics. It examines how linguistic choices, contextual factors, and cultural background interact to shape meaning in tourism communication. The findings reveal that pragmatic meaning in tourism discourse is highly dependent on cultural interpretation and requires adaptation rather than direct translation. The study highlights the importance of intercultural awareness in designing effective tourism messages, especially in the context of promoting local destinations such as Uzbekistan in the global tourism market.
