DMSP-ELFIN Electron Precipitation Event Catalog

This dataset provides a tabulated catalog of conjunction events between the two ELFIN CubeSats (ELFIN-A and ELFIN-B) and three DMSP satellites (F16, F17, F18) during 2020–2022. The catalog contains approximately 3.6×10⁴ individual electron precipitation spectra covering energies from ~30 eV (DMSP) to ~6 MeV (ELFIN). Two files are provided: events.csv — Full event catalog. For each entry includes: ELFIN probe ID, event ID, magnetic latitude (MLAT), magnetic local time (MLT) from both ELFIN and DMSP, maximum AE index (AE*), time ranges for ELFIN and DMSP observations, precipitating electron fluxes from both satellites, fitted composite spectral model parameters (two-component: exponential cutoff power-law + kappa distribution), and fit quality metrics. tranges.csv — Smaller file listing only the conjunction event time intervals (t0, t1 per ELFIN orbit segment). The spectral fits use a two-component model: a low-to-intermediate energy exponential cutoff power-law (j_EP) and a high-energy kappa distribution (j_κ), bridging the energy gap between DMSP (<30 keV) and ELFIN (>50 keV) measurements.
