Several plant genomes, transcriptomes and proteomes have already been sequenced and characterized for angiosperm species, but the lack of information for conifers reduces the understanding in plant evolution and inhibit the genome research potential and genetic breeding of this taxonomic group. Araucaria angustifolia and Podocarpus lambertii are brazilian conifers critically endangered and near threatened, respectively. Several gaps in many research areas like developmental phisiology and reproductive biology are obstacles to its knowledge, breeding, sustainable use of these genetic resources and proposition of conservation measures. Genome, transcriptome end epigenome characterization are informative tools that enable to locate and to characterize active genes in critical processes of plant development, in addition it can elucidate evolutionary aspects. The main objective of this work is the sequencing and characterization of tissue transcriptomes from Araucaria angustifolia (leaf, pollen and stem).
