Diets that vary in nutritional content are consumed and absorbed equally by third instar larvae. Food ingestion was measured for elav-Gal4>UAS-Rheb+ third instar larvae raised on four different diets. Despite having varying nutritional content, each of the foods we tested was consumed approximately equally during a six hour period of free feeding. Although there appeared to be a trend towards increased feeding on the SR diet, the difference was not statistically significant (p≤0.39 in a two-tailed Student's t-test compared against HC food).
