The patient is a 53 years old man, who spontaneous joint hemorrhage occurredoccasionally after birth, especially of the knees. But until 1977, when he was age 12years old, he was diagnosed with moderate HB (FⅨ:C 2.8%). Since then, when jointhemorrhages took place, he could only use plasma or cold precipitation replacement treatment, because of the deficient coagulation factorⅨ(FⅨ). In March 1996, he had a severely IA bleeding of the right knee after traumatic, which the clinical manifestations was severe pain, distension of the joint capsule and flexion antalgic contracture. The orhthopaedic surgeon used knee arthrocentesis to removal of hemarthrosis after about 15 ml/kg day-1plasma transfusion. After the procedure, about 10 ml/kg day-1plasma was infused for 72 hours accompanying a compressive bandage. Although postoperative clinical symptoms improved temporary, the skin around the puncture site of the right joint presented ulceration with purulent exudates with hemorrhage 2 months later.
