Human head lice (Pediculus humanus capitis) are the obligate ectoparasites of the humans. They live on the scalp of head and continuously suck the blood from the humans and feed on that blood. They are the carriers of many pathogenic bacteria and that's why they cause many infectious diseases among humans. There are multiple ways to treat the head lice infestations but all are failed because head lice are developing resistance very quickly against the insecticides. The whole genome sequencing of the head lice was very important because by the help of it, the resistance genes can be targeted and they can be treated in a better way.
