资源简介:
The Transit system, also known as NAVSAT or NNSS (Navy Navigation Satellite System), was the first satellite navigation system to be used operationally. The radio navigation system was primarily used by the U.S. Navy to provide accurate positioning information to its Polaris ballistic missile submarines, and it was also used as a navigation system by the U.S. Navy's surface ships, as well as for hydrographic and geodetic surveying. Transit provided continuous navigation satellite service from 1964, initially for Polaris submarines. The system was released for commercial use in July, 1967.Transit system satellites were positioned in circular, polar orbits, about 1,075 kilometres high, circling the earth every 107 minutes. The satellite constellation, of 5 or 6 satellites, formed a "bird cage" within which the earth rotated. Each satellite was a self-contained navigation beacon which transmitted two very stable frequencies (150 and 400 MHz), timing marks, and a navigation message. By receiving these signals during a single pass, the system user could calculate an accurate position fix by measuring the Doppler frequency shift caused by the satellite's motion as a function of time. The Transit system was made obsolete by the introduction of the Global Positioning System (GPS), and ceased navigation service in 1996.The Australian Antarctic Division used Transit system satellite receivers for extensive glaciological studies in the Australian Antarctic Territory for the accurate positioning of ice movement monitoring stations. This dataset consists of 2 files. The first, 1977-83 JMR Doppler Results.pdf, is a 300 dpi greyscale scan of the contents of Doppler Satellite Station Analysis folder which contains 206 DOPPLER SATELLITE STATION ANALYSIS sheets together with a limited amount of program DOPPLER output, miscellaneous hand-written notes and copies of a variety of related correspondence between the Division of National Mapping and Antarctic Division dealing with DOPPLER processing issues. The second file, Doppler 5.xlsx, is a spreadsheet containing a detailed technical listing of the information shown in each of the 206 DOPPLER SATELLITE STATION ANALYSIS sheets contained in the file 1977-83 JMR Doppler Results.pdf.Of the 206 Doppler Satellite Station Analysis (DSSA) sheets included in the file Doppler 5.xlsx, 183 are directly related to glaciology and the monitoring of ice movement monitoring stations in WILKES LAND. Apart from the SYOWA (JAPAN) station, where TWO data processing solutions were computed for glaciological purpose, the remaining 21 DSSA sheets were for miscellaneous Doppler fixes, not strictly associated with glaciology, undertaken in the following locations :MACROBERTSON LAND, KEMP LAND and ENDERBY LAND : 12HEARD and MACDONALD ISLANDS : 8SYOWA STATION (JAPAN), QUEEN MAUD LAND : 2DAVIS STATION, PRINCESS ELIZABETH LAND : 1
