Biting behavior of malaria vectors during 2 seasons of the year in 3 communities in the Mazan district

Mosquitoes were collected during 6 months of the year 2022 in 3 communities in the Mazan district: Gamitanacocha and Libertad on the Mazan River, and Urcomiraño on the Napo River. Collections were conducted during the rising season: March, April, and May; Falling season: October, November, and December. The HLC method was used to observe intra-peri bite patterns during 12 hours of collection. Additionally, the barrier method was employed to assess vector feeding preferences, and ovary dissection was performed to determine mosquito age. It was found that bite indices were high during the rising months.
